Welcome to the official website for Bataan75, a moniker assigned to an extraordinary series of events that will culminate, the weekend of September 9 and 10th, 2017, in Maywood, Illinois.  These events will comprise the 75th Anniversary of the Bataan Day Memorial Observance.  Bataan75 celebrates the unique relationship between the peoples of the Philippine Islands and the American people.

The relationship has special significance for many families with links to Maywood, Illinois - especially families whose loved ones fought and died in the fight for Bataan, in the Philippines, during World War II.

Although the American-Filipino relationship is one that was forged in blood and sacrifice, it has been sustained through mutual respect and appreciation.  Bataan75 is designed to ensure that the world: 1) remembers those who fought and died for freedom; and 2) cherishes the enduring friendship that exists between Americans and Filipinos living in the United States and in the Philippines.

Maywood Bataan Day Organization (MBDO), host of the Maywood Bataan Day Commemorations, in Maywood, Illinois, is an organization that exists to honor the valor and sacrifice of the men of Company B, 192nd Tank Battalion, which was based in Maywood prior to World War II.

The Maywood Bataan Day observance, which is held annually on the second Sunday in September, provides an opportunity for residents of Maywood to join with veterans and members of the U.S. Armed Services, and with Filipinos, both here in the United States, and in the Philippines, in remembrance of, and appreciation for, those who fought against the forces of Imperial Japan, on Bataan Peninsular, during World War II.  MBDO, along with the Village of Maywood, maintains Veterans Memorial Maywood Park as a sacred place of honor for members of the Maywood community who served in World War 1, and with the 192nd.
